The useful question is simple: what is the least expensive way to play the games you want, on a setup you enjoy using? Start with the console already in your home.

1. Write down the exact model

Rockstar's official GTA VI page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Check the model name on your hardware or its settings screen. A familiar brand name by itself is not enough to establish compatibility.

If you own one of the listed platforms, put zero in the console line of your budget. You can revisit that decision when you have a specific reason to replace it.

2. Pick the library you will actually use

Compare your existing purchases, controller preference, accessibility needs, space, and the other games you want to play. Put those in order of importance. A platform that suits your whole year is a better decision than one picked for a single launch-week rumor.

If playing with friends matters, list what they use, then verify multiplayer and cross-play support for each game you intend to play together. Do not assume those features for GTA VI.

3. Choose the exact version

Different console versions can have different storage and disc-drive configurations. Read the manufacturer's comparison for the model being sold, especially if you intend to buy physical games. Do not assume that every model in the same family accepts discs.

4. Compare complete baskets
